I wasn’t aware that writers who don’t participate in Medium membership can earn money. Also stripe is only available for payouts in few countries. By Alexa’s rankings India sends the 2nd most traffic to Medium. But, Medium payouts are still not happening in India. Perhaps the earning writers are less than your estimate?
