I honestly don't know how we can rebalance our over consumption habits.

But, I feel a lot of our top gadget manufacturers run on our need to constantly buy a slightly better model of the same. Hence the annual release of phones or cars. The same goes with textile. Perhaps having a robust recycling system would help. Some cities are experimenting with circular economy concepts.

Hope one or more of these efforts would help. The only other option may be that we find minerals on some extra terrestrial location like an asteroid and instead of mining the earth we just start digging those.
